A Few Rambling Thoughts At The Start Of The Year.
Don't know about you, but I am always glad when the 6th of January arrives
and Christmas is officially over. Not that I don't enjoy the Festive
Season; but all those chocolates and biscuits lying around makes one feel
guilty not to be enjoying them. Then there are the bottles of wine, whiskey
and liquers on the sideboard waiting to be drunk. It is all too much for
human nature to resist.
Reading the 2nd. big volume of TS Elliot's letters. How on earth did men
like the poet find the time to hold down a job at a bank, edit a magazine,
care for a very ill wife, and yet carry on a voluminous corrspondence with
so many people, while he himself was in poor health?
A few sayings from G.K. Chesterton:
Let your religion be less of a theory and more of a love affair.
If there were no God there would be no atheists.
I regard golf as an expensive way of playing marbles.
All of you have a healthy and safe 2013.
